Popular Hokkaido Attractions

Hokkaido is the second largest island in Japan. There are many popular cities to visit in Hokkaido. The top four popular cities are Sapporo, Otaru, Asahikawa and Hokodate.

Sapporo is the capital city and the largest city in Hokkaido. Sapporo has a lot of tourist attractions. There are monthly events in Odori Park. The most popular event is the Sapporo Snow Festival in February. There are many snow statues, local foods, and projection mapping at night. In Sapporo alone, large parks include Moerenuma Park, Takino Suzuran Park and Nakajima Park.

Susukino is another famous tourist destination. It has delicious food such as fresh seafood and Genghis Khan. There are also izakayas, cafes, and bars where you can enjoy yourself from morning till night.

Otaru is near Sapporo and used to be the capital city of Hokkaido. It began as a fishing village. There are many delicious foods in Otaru. For example, in the shop Kamaei, you can have kamaboko, a type of cured sushi. And in the shop Naruto you can try zangi, a type of chicken nugget that is marinated then covered in seasonings and fried. Both shops are very famous.

Since the fishing industry flourished, fresh seafood has been available. Many sweets are also famous. Lutao's Douvre Fromage, Amatou's marron cologne, and Yamanaka Farm's soft-serve ice cream are especially popular.

Asahikawa has many places to enjoy nature. Mt. Asahidake, the Sounkyo Onsen Ice Fall Festival, and waterfalls are popular natural spots. Meteor, Hagoromo, and Ginga are also popular natural spots. Asahikawa's famous foods are Shinkoyaki, a chicken dish with bones, Asahikawa Ramen, Jingisukan, and soup curry.

Hakodate has an exotic cityscape, and it has been selected as one of the world's three major night views. The reason for the exotic townscape is because most of the houses in Hakodate are a blend of Japanese and Western style. This is because Hakodate was one of Japan's leading trading ports. Interactions with foreigners introduced many western techniques which were then adopted to create the houses. Hakodate is famous for the sushi shop Kantaro, the chain restaurant Lucky Pierrot, and fresh squid.

北海道の観光スポット

北海道は日本で二番目に大きな島である。北海道には訪れるべき人気の都市がたくさんある。人気の上位４都市は札幌、小樽、旭川、函館だ。

札幌は道都であり、北海道最大の都市である。札幌には多くの観光スポットがある。大通公園では毎月イベントがある。最も人気のあるイベントは２月のさっぽろ雪まつりだ。たくさんの雪像があり、ご当地グルメがあり、夜にはプロジェクションマッピングが行われる。札幌市内だけでも、モエレ沼公園、滝野すずらん公園、中島公園などの大きな公園がある。

すすきのも有名な観光地だ。新鮮な魚介類やジンギスカンなど、おいしい食べ物がある。居酒屋やカフェ、バーもあり、朝から晩まで楽しめる。

小樽は札幌に近く、かつては道庁所在地だった。もともとは漁村だった。小樽には、美味しいものがたくさんある。例えば、「かま栄」のかまぼこや「なると」のザンギは有名だ。漁業が盛んになってから、新鮮な魚介類が手に入るようになった。スイーツも有名だ。ルタオの「ドゥーブルフロマージュ」、アマトウの「マロンコロン」、山中牧場の「ソフトクリーム」などは特に人気がある。

旭川には自然を満喫できる場所がたくさんある。旭岳、層雲峡温泉氷瀑まつり、流星の滝、羽衣の滝、銀河の滝は、人気の自然スポットだ。旭川の有名な食べ物といえば、骨付き鳥の新子焼き、旭川ラーメン、ジンギスカン、スープカレーなどがある。

函館はエキゾチックな街並みが特徴で、世界三大夜景にも選ばれている。異国情緒あふれる町並みの理由は、函館の家屋のほとんどが和洋折衷だからだ。これは、函館が日本有数の貿易港だったからだ。外国人との交流によって、多くの西洋の技法が取り入れられ、それらの家屋が建てられた。函館は寿司屋「甘太郎」、チェーン店「ラッキーピエロ」、新鮮なイカで有名である。

このように北海道には、様々な場所や食べ物が溢れている。ぜひ遊びにきて北海道の良さを体験してみて欲しい。
