The first shrine built in Hokkaido was Funadama Shrine in Hakodate. It was built in 1135. The oldest shrine in Sapporo is Shinoro Shrine, which was built in 1855. The most famous shrine in Hokkaido is Hokkaido Shrine, located in Chuo Ward. There are several reasons why Hokkaido Shrine is famous.

Hokkaido and Sapporo have become popular tourist spots, and Hokkaido Shrine is located in the center of Sapporo, so tourists can easily visit and it’s very popular for both residents and tourists. Hokkaido Shrine has deep historical ties to Hokkaido and is known as a powerful spiritual spot. Hokkaido Shrine also hosts a variety of events with delicious food every year, attracting many people. 

Near Hokkaido Shrine is Maruyama Zoo, which is located within Maruyama Park, a park rich in natural beauty, and this is another reason why tourists visit. Hokkaido Shrine is known for bestowing various blessings, including good fortune, business prosperity, career success, success in competitions, financial prosperity, matchmaking, and household safety. In addition, many students visit every year to pray for success on entrance exams and other tests. These are also the reasons why so many people visit.

Hokkaido Shrine holds a festival every June. The festival has a one-hundred-year history in Hokkaido, and it’s one of the most famous festivals in the region. 北海道で最初に建立された神社は、函館にある船玉神社です。1135年に建立されました。札幌で最も古い神社は、1855年に建立された篠呂神社です。ただ、最古ではなくても、北海道で最も有名な神社が、中央区にある北海道神宮です。北海道神宮が有名な理由はいくつかあります。
