North Safari Sapporo is a private zoo that closed at the end of September 2025. It was once known as Japan’s most dangerous zoo and was popular as an experiential facility where visitors could get up close and personal with animals.

However, it received a citation from Sapporo City for building without permission in an urbanization control zone and for issues regarding animal welfare. Even after the zoo closed, some of the animals that were kept there still remain, and a plan for relocating the animals is as yet unresolved.

Unauthorized construction and other administrative violations led to the zoo building many facilities. Sapporo City gave repeated guidance and warnings to the facility, but the situation did not improve, and the number of unlicensed buildings increased to 183. These issues were not resolved, and the park closed on September 30, 2025.

ノースサファリサッポロは、2025年9月末に閉園した私営動物園です。かつては日本一危険な動物園として知られ、動物と触れ合える体験型施設として人気を博していました。

しかし、市街化調整区域内での無許可建築や動物愛護上の問題で札幌市から指導を受けて閉園された後も飼育されていた動物の一部はそのまま残っており、動物の移転計画は未だに固まっていません。

無許可建築や行政指導を受けるまで、動物園は多くの施設を建設していました。札幌市は動物園に対し、度重なる指導・警告を行いましたが、状況は改善せず、無許可建築は183棟にまで増加しました。これらの問題は解決されず、2025年9月30日に閉園となります。  

閉園後も飼育されていた動物の一部はそのまま残っており、動物の移転計画も未だに決着していません。
